LEGACY OF
EXCELLENCE
St. James Episcopal School is a faith-based school serving students from PK3 through 6th grade. The school enjoys an excellent reputation throughout the community for its academic excellence, commitment to service, and outstanding extracurricular programs.
St. James Episcopal School was founded in the fall of 1955 by a group of churchwomen led by Bette Foster and Joanne Crosby, who believed there should be a Christian school available to serve the community. The school became an outreach ministry of St. James Episcopal Church.
St. James was first accredited in 1990 by the Southwestern Association of Episcopal Schools (SAES), an accrediting agency recognized by the National Association of Independent Schools. In Texas, SAES is approved by TEPSAC and recognized by the Commissioner of Education. Since its founding, St. James has become a place where students are nurtured in their faith through chapel services while being challenged to achieve academic excellence.
Retired General Gerald Prather, a former member of the school's Board of Trustees, said it best: "Educating children in a Christian environment is an important way to serve God and our nation."
St. James takes pride in its tradition of academic excellence while reflecting the values of a committed and caring community. It is truly a place where students love to learn and learn to love.
